Earthwork Construction
Gannon Construction Services, has two distinct divisions, the “Earthwork” and the “ByPass”. In Bob Gannon’s words; “We take pride in being a diverse company which can serve customers in a variety of industries, but, we remain committed to our roots” in the site development and land moving trades where work is performed by the Earthwork division of the company. The company has successfully completed hundreds of civil & site work development projects over the years.
National Grid contacted us to bid an emergency scope of work in Albany NY. A mudslide had significantly disturbed a large hill which was the foundation of a high voltage transmission line that crossed over Interstate 87. There was also a gas main in the same vicinity which was dangerously compromised in the mudslide as well. Our company mobilized and stabilized the scene quickly, we cleaned and cleared the adjacent property of the mud and natural debris, and then we began work on stabilizing and rebuilding the slope. The area involved was about 600 feet and the available space to work within was limited so this required a very strategic and efficient approach to restore the integrity of the slope and to complete the work safely.
In 2016 we performed the full site development contract for the new construction of the New Comer Funeral Home on Rt. 2 in Latham, NY. This site development work included building demolition, dewatering, removal of over 10,000 cy of unsuitable material on site, and replaced it with new clean material. We also installed a new underground storm water retention system, all new utilities including site preparation for the plumbing and electrical work for other trades which was in addition to the storm, sanitary and water service that we installed. Our scope of work on this site also included retaining walls, parking lots, sidewalks, curbs, and landscaping.
